I just came back from Tan Tock Seng Hospital after fetching my daughter from the Walk-in Clinic there. The whole system is so efficient that I keep asking myself one pertinent question.
Can such efficiency be inculcated in ourselves -- the way we eat, the type of food we take, and the excercise regime we follow. Had this be done, I am pretty sure that Singaporeans can pride themselves as a community that put priority to health. After all, health is wealth.
There is also this need for Singaporeans to change their mindset and look to the East for traditional cure or suppliments. Many Singaporeans whether they are Chinese, Malays or Indians feel that the western medicine is always the best.
From the little knowledge I know about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), physicians treat their patients in a wholesome way and in most cases if not all, they use herbs. It is heartening though to see that the Singapore Governtment have recognised TCM as an alternative medicine. I happy to see that TCM clinics stand side by side with western medical centres in a couple of hospitals.
According to Chinese physicians, our mouth is the key to our health. What we eat is important!
As health cost rockets, Singaporeans must change their lifestyle. We must not always blame the Government. //
